7 Fashion Trends You Can Actually Wear

Let’s talk trends! First things first: I have to remind you that just because something is trendy doesn’t mean it has to be for you and just because something isn’t on trend doesn’t mean you shouldn’t wear it. Style is all about YOU. What makes you feel good? What makes you feel confident? What makes you feel unique? That’s the beauty of style is that it is yours, so have fun with it and be yourself!

Fashion trends can be intimidating and they can also go really really wrong. A lot of times people think dressing in a bunch of trends will make them look more modern and more well trendy but that logic often has the opposite effect. Instead, incorporate one or two trends in your outfit to avoid looking noisy and confused. This will help you feel like YOU while still getting to play around and have fun with new styles.

Here are my favorite trends that you can easily start incorporating into your closet.

Texture, Texture, Texture

No better time for textures to make an entrance than in the winter. Think sherpa, shearling, faux fur, feathers, even embellishments. Textures add dimension and visual interest to your outfit while being super practical for the cold weather.

Oversized Knits

I guess not technically a trend as knits will never go out of style but the oversized silhouette feels even more relevant in 2022. Our lifestyles continue to be fluid. We work in the same spaces we eat, clean, cook, and sleep. Comfort and quality is key. A loose sweater dress is the ultimate wardrobe maximizer. Wear it as-is with sneakers and a jacket or belt it and pair with boots for a sleek and sophisticated look.

All Things Leather

Leather pants, leather dresses, leather jackets, leather EVERYTHING is on the radar right now. Swap out your leather leggings for leather trousers to elevate your look or swap your wool jacket for a leather blazer for an edgier vibe.

Knee High Boots

They key to mile long looking legs is a great pair of knee high boots. This shoe is as versatile as it comes. Wear them with a mid length dress or over top of denim – either way your legs are going to look like they just stepped off the runway.

Sparkle and Shine

The holidays are over but metallics and shine are still having their moment. Adding materials like patent leather, moiré, and metallics are the easiest way to take a day time look into the night. Try pairing your shiny statement pieces with more casual items from your closet to keep your outfit fresh and practical.

Skin Baring Cutouts

Skin is in! This style is much easier to incorporate in the summer when you’re looking for any way to keep cool but can still be achieved in the cold months too. Try a knit sweater with a shoulder cutout to stay seasonally appropriate and on trend.

Bold Colors

I’m a neutral girl through and through but something about a pop of color can really change my mood. Red is great for a boost of confidence, blue can make you feel more at ease, and yellow can send your endorphins through the roof. Have even more fun with your pops of color by playing with texture. Make a statement with a bright velvet piece or add a little pop to an all black outfit with bright and bold shearling bag.

3 Affordable Holiday Outfits with Target

Sweater || Skirt || Earrings

I did that thing again where I went to target for a few basic household items and walked out with 2 bags of clothes and not a single thing I actually came for – send help! Luckily I snagged a bunch of pieces that can be worn to work, on the weekend, and at home for holiday festivities so I don’t feel so bad about it. I always calculate the price per wear when I purchase clothes. If I see a sweater I love and it’s $40 but I can think of 4 ways to style it then it’s really more like $10 – simple math ya know 🙂

Although the holidays are going to look different this year, you better believe I will dressing the part (even if it’s just in my house)! I’m rounding up three holiday looks that are perfect for the season, no matter what your plans:

Comfy & Casual
Sweater || Pants || Shoes

This is the perfect outfit for the laid-back girl who wants to be kinda festive but really wants to be comfortable. The wine colored cable knit sweater is a quintessential holiday staple and the plaid patterned pants are on trend, but the drawstring waist makes them perfect for overindulging.

Classic
Sweater || Skirt || Shoes

Photos just don’t do this gorgeous red skirt justice. Paired with a cream knit sweater and glitzy heels, this is the classic festive look that works for dinner at home or family photo ops.

Festive & Feminine
Top || Skirt || Shoes

I call this the multi-tasker! The entire look can be worn for Christmas or New Years Eve, looks beautiful in photos, and is easy to move in! This pleated midi skirt has just the right amount of sparkle, and paired with a simple fitted black turtleneck makes this outfit effortlessly chic! Oh, and did I mention the stretchy waistband? Flirty and practical – win, win.

Target has been killing it on clothing lately! Their selection of sweaters is on point – so many cozy, on-trend pieces at affordable prices that won’t break the bank. Here are a few of my faves!
