Nordstrom Athletic Gear That You *Actually* Want to Workout In

Back in my middle school track days I was so embarrassed to wear my running shoes anywhere but the track – they were so clunky and ugly. I was pleasantly surprised to see that the running shoe game has been seriously elevated! I grabbed the Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit shoes. They are super highly rated, designed specifically to reduce injury, and they are SO CUTE. The soles have tons of support and the top is like wearing a sock it’s so comfortable – 10/10!

But working out definitely doesn’t come naturally to me. I struggle to find the time and the motivation and often end up putting it on the back burner. In all the years I’ve spent being trying to be better about consistently working out I have found 3 things that help me maintain motivation:

Do something you ENJOY!

It’s a lot easier finding the motivation to workout when it’s actually fun! I love playing tennis, dancing, and the occasional neighborhood jog if the weather is nice. When I stick to these activities my workout consistency is SO much better.

Have an Accountability Partner

Find someone to workout with! I find that the idea of working out with my husband is much more desirable than working out alone. When you have a partner you’re more likely to feel encouraged and more likely to stick with it!

Keep your look FRESH

This is definitely the most powerful tip I know! There is just something about putting on brand new workout gear that motivates me unlike any other trick in the book. I did a little bit of research and it turns out this feeling is actually scientifically backed! Studies show that what we wear can have an impact on our behavior. In one experiment, participants who wore lab coats (associated with doctors) had improved attentiveness. The same can be said for wearing athletic clothes – you put them on and associate them with being an athlete or an extraordinarily fit person and you actually become more inclined to workout and may even boost your performance than if you try to workout in an old college t-shirt and sweatpants. Yeah, MIND BLOWN.

I read this study and immediately had an *add to cart* spree at Nordstrom. In the name of fitness, of course!! I snagged this jacket (honestly just because it looked cool) and paired with these leggings and sports bra. Just trying to look like a professional athlete so I can perform like one – it’s science 🙂
